Ricoh ProC9100

Ricoh has unveiled a brace of cut sheet toner machines offering performance and flexibility.
New cut sheet machines offer flexibility and productivity gain.
New cut sheet machines offer flexibility and productivity gain.
ALONGSIDE THE LAUNCH OF THE “GAME CHANGING” Pro VC60000 inkjet web press, Ricoh has introduced two cut sheet machines, unveiling both at GraphExpo in Chicago.
Both the Pro C7100, a five colour press printing up to 90ppm, and the four colour Pro C9100 with 130ppm output, will ship before the end of the year. Both fill gaps in the current range and will allow Ricoh to meet customer requirements for additional performance.
THE PRO C9100 TAKES RICOH into a new production category, propelled by customers wanting greater volumes than has been possible with the C901, its current flagship model. The press can cope with 1 million A4 pages a month on papers from 42gsm to 400gsm and printing banner materials to 700mm in length for wraparound jackets and folders as well as point of sale.
Stephen Palmer, head of production print, Ricoh UK, calls the press a “digital powerhouse” adding: “The Pro C9100 series gives clients options they have not had at this price point in the past, bringing positive disruption to a previously static market.”
IMAGING IS THROUGH A 1200 x 4800 dpi VCSEL laser; there is a preponderance of user replaceable components; automated media identification selects the closest match from the media library to accelerate set up. The press comes in two versions, the Pro C9100 at 110ppm and the Pro C9110 at 130ppm.
The Pro C7100 is the first Ricoh machine with five-colour printing, using the fifth space for a white or a clear toner in the first instance. Future developments could include spot colour or gamut expanding toners. It is using the same VCSEL technology, prints on media to 360ppm and meets demands for greater flexibility at this point in the market.
AGAIN THERE ARE TWO VERSIONS, the Pro C7100 at 80ppm and the Pro C7110 at 90ppm. Both speeds are reduced when printing on media above 300gsm. It is offered with a choice of EFI Fiery Rips. Both machines are completing their beta testing phase, the Pro C7100 at a UK printer and the Pro C9100 in Germany and the US.
Heidelberg, which sells Ricoh first two production machines under the Linoprint brand, has had input into the development of these machines. It is currently evaluating them before making a firm commitment to distribute them. However, there will be a greater technology contribution to improve the Heidelberg look and feel of the machines that it sells. An announcement is expected shortly.

What is the new Ricoh going to deliver?

Rumours abound about fifth colours and extended sheet sizes..

Will it look like the 651/751 range, or maybe more like the 5100?

Perhaps as a flag ship it should have the livery of the 901?

Ooooh it’s exciting…watch this space!
